The Fifth Global Imperative has evolved into four interdependent research initiatives. Jointly they are designed to understand the overall dynamics and the challenges of sustainable development, and to facilitate the management of transitions toward sustainability.

Mapping Sustainability

Highlights of theory, policy & practice of sustainable development presented in a co-edited book. Focused on the conceptual foundations for representing the complexity of sustainabilty, then filling in the details.

Global System for Sustainable Development (GSSD)

Interactive website on sustainable development, with detailed knowledge & ontology of fourteen sectors of human activity. The knowledge value chain is extended further through the use of “search” & “submit” functions.

Sustainability & Cyberspace

Explores the complex and interactive relationships & intersections of sustainability and cyberspace.

Global Environmental Accord

MIT Press Book Series on environmental challenges & policy responses.
